The ‘Grachtenhuis’ museum is a new, independent museum about the history of the canals of Amsterdam. Dutch Igloo was asked to design an interactive installation for one of their rooms. The high tech dollhouse was created in just a few months.
The dollhouse is a scale 1:12 copy of the historical building the museum in situated in. Each of the 24 rooms is decorated and has glass plates hidden in them. On these glass plates we projected short movies of people shot on a transparent background. When you look into the rooms it looks like the people are actually inside the decorated rooms.
Visitors can walk around the house and peek into all the rooms. Using their audio-tour they can listen to all the different stories that took place in the historical house the museum is located in.
The end result: a 1:12 version of the historical building the museum in located in. Each of the 24 rooms tell a story about the history of the building (copyright www.kossmanndejong.nl)
Visitors can walk around the house to explore all the stories projected in the rooms.
The house also includes a garden. Near every room numbers are shown that help you play the right soundtrack on your audio-tour. (copyright www.kossmanndejong.nl)
